New Hope Counseling was established by Deborah Rodgers in Torrington, Wy in 1992. She opened the primary location at 136 West 21st Ave in 2003. There are two facilities side by side currently as the former Gibson Studio was purchased in 2021. New Hope also has two offices in Guernsey. Recently we needed to add more offices and have two offices located in Torrington at 10 West 2nd Ave. As well as new office space in Cheyenne at 613 Randall Ave. We have 11 therapists providing services at the numerous locations. We also have two interns who will be licensed in September 2023 bringing the total to 13, We are privileged to provide services to so many individuals and families.
Our goal is to equip individuals with tools that will produce healthy, wholesome, productive lives. We work with individuals, couples, families, and children with all mental health concerns. Our therapists are all licensed in the State of Wyoming. We are trained therapists who specialize in play therapy, art therapy, and cognitive Behavioral. Christian based therapy is available upon request. Our staff is available for appointments Monday through Friday and some evenings and weekends. Deborah A. Rodgers M.A. EdD, LPC
Deborah started New Hope in 1992 upon graduating with her Masters from Chadron, Nebraska. In 2001 She completed her doctorate in counseling from Andersonville University. From 1993 to 1998 she was also the U.S. Director of an International Organization where she conducted intensive week long conferences for individuals struggling with a multitude of issues. She worked both in the U.S. and in England. She trained teams in the States and abroad to conduct the conferences. Deborah speaks at women's conferences in the area and has spoken in Hawaii, Alaska, Texas and East and West coast.
Deborah was married 39 years until her husband died in 2010. She has two sons and eight grandchildren. Deborah was born in Torrington lived numerous places across the states only to return to Torrington in 1976 where she and her husband raised their family. Deborah is a member of a fundamental church in Torrington.
Jody A. Kimbrel, M.A. LPC
Jody is a licensed professional counselor in the state of Wyoming. She holds a masters degree in Community Counseling from Adams State University. Jody has been working with children, adults, and families for over eight years. She is a cognitive behavioral therapist who loves to help clients reach their goals and experience positive changes. Jody first became interested in this field during her experience as a peer counselor in high school. Her personal professional goal is to continue her education in counseling. In her down time Jody enjoys reading, gardening, working with horses and spending time with her family.
Jaron Frederick M.A. LPC
Jaron Frederick is a Licensed Professional Counselor serving both Torrington and Guernsey, Wyoming. He has a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Chadron State College in Chadron, Nebraska, and a Bachelor’s Degree from Colorado State University in Animal Science. Jaron and his wife live in the country and are grateful for the opportunity to raise their three daughters on the family’s cattle ranch. Jaron is competent and experienced in working with children, adolescents, adults and couples as well as groups. He is a believer in Jesus Christ and seeks to serve the Lord in his life’s work as a therapist. He uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) primarily. CBT seeks to uncover why we do what we do, why we feel what we feel and why we think what we think. Using proven tools in therapy we remove what is at the root of our struggles and issues. Jaron believes that the relationship between the client and the counselor is paramount to success in therapy and he seeks to build good lasting relationships with his clients.
Luke Johns M.A. EdD, LPC
Luke started practicing counseling in 2005 after he graduated from the University of Nebraska-Kearney with his Masters in Community Counseling. Luke started his career in counseling at residential treatment centers for adolescents in Denver, CO. After doing this for five years he took a position as coordinator for a program that helped dually diagnosed homeless young adults conducting groups and individual sessions. In 2013 he completed his doctorate in counseling education and supervision from Argosy University. He was an adjunct professor in the psychology department of Westwood College while working in an intensive outpatient program for substance abuse. Luke conducted grief and loss seminars and did guest lecturing at Metro State College.
In 2017 he moved back to his home town of Gering, NE and began to work for New Hope. He works with kids, adolescents, adults, and couples
Brianna L Brooks, M.A. LPC
Brianna is a Licensed Professional Counselor for the State of Wyoming. She holds a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Chadron State College in Chadron, Nebraska, and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wyoming in Human Nutrition and Food in Laramie, Wyoming. She and her husband moved to Torrington at the beginning of 2018 from Cheyenne. Through the events that unfolded in her life during that year she decided that it was time for her to seek her own counseling. This led her to becoming closer to the Lord in the fall of 2018 and she has continued her spiritual journey ever since. She uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help clients discover ways to alter their thoughts and behavioral patterns. She loves to work with kids, adolescents, couples, and groups. Brianna is excited to become more involved in the community and to be able to raise her future children in Torrington Wyoming.
Jessica Rotz, M.A. LPC
Jessica is a Licensed Practicing Counselor. She holds a Masters in Clinical Mental Health, and a Bachelors in Interdisciplinary Studies from Chadron State College. Jessica works mainly out of New Hope’s office in Guernsey, but occasionally works out of the Torrington offices. Jessica is a 36-year-old wife, and mother of two adolescent boys. She grew up on remote ranches all over the Western U.S. Some of her hobbies include reading, riding her horses, and making memories with her family while hiking, camping, and floating the river.
Jessica has been a believer in Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior for 30+ years, and daily pursues a closer walk with Him. Jessica and her family make church involvement a priority in their lives, and strive to be the hands and feet of Christ in their community. Jessica provides individual, couples, and family counseling for people of all ages and walks of life. Jessica utilizes mainly Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Play Therapy. She is passionate about helping people understand themselves more deeply and why they feel what they feel so that they can make desired changes.
Crystal N Patterson, M.A. LPC
Crystal is a Licensed Professional Counselor for the State of Wyoming. She holds a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Chadron State College in Chadron, Nebraska, and a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University in Interdisciplinary Studies. Crystal was born and raised in Texas but moved to Gering, Nebraska when she married her husband in 2011.She has spent the past ten years teaching 4th grade in Scottsbluff Public Schools and her love of helping others has fueled her career change from teaching to counseling. Crystal is very excited to help all ages through different therapies and techniques. God has helped Crystal realize who she is through him and she strives to walk daily with him while helping others to grow closer to him as well.
Amanda Brown, M.A. PPC
Amanda is a Provisional Professional Counselor for the State of Wyoming. She holds her master's degree in clinical mental health counseling, as well as a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies, through Chadron State College. Amanda works at both the Guernsey and Torrington offices at New Hope Counseling. She is a member of her local fire department as well as a wife and mother. Amanda enjoys camping, quilting and making jewelry as well as spending time with her family. Amanda grew up in this community and has a passion for helping those within it. She works with all ages and enjoys helping others find their strengths through therapy to help them achieve their goals in life.
Kristine Sandlian, M.A. PPC
Kristine is a Provisional Professional Counselor for the State of Wyoming. She holds a master’s degree in child and adolescent development as well as clinical mental health counseling through Capella University, as well as a bachelor’s degree from Chadron State College in psychology. Kristine works in the Torrington office at New Hope Counseling. Kristine is a wife, and mother of 3 who grew up on a family ranch outside Chugwater, Wyoming. She has lived in Torrington since 2010 when she began playing basketball for Eastern Wyoming College. She has previously worked in a multitude of settings from young children at St. Joseph’s Children’s Home to geriatric inmates at the Wyoming Medium Correctional Institute. With the completion of her degree program, Kristine is comfortable working with all types of clients; children, adults, couples, and groups. Her love of learning about others and talking through issues has fueled her interest in helping others gain a better understanding of themselves through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and other techniques as needed. In her down time, she enjoys making quilts, gardening, and experiencing the outdoors with her family.
Virginia Garrett, M.A. PPC
Virginia Garrett is a Provisionally Licensed Counselor in the state of Wyoming. She received a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies from Chadron State College, and a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling, also from Chadron State College. She first dreamed of being a counselor at the age of 13. A lot of life happened between that dream and when she went back to school as an adult and completed her education. Virginia and her husband have been married for almost 30 years and have two grown children and two cats. They make their home in western Nebraska. They are both active in their church and seek to honor Jesus with their lives.
Robin Boyd, M.A. PPC
Robin Boyd has a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Chadron State College, a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Biology from Logan University and attended Frontier School of the Bible for three years. She became interested in training to be a counselor after seeing the needs of people and realized how through her own experiences that God had been preparing her for such a role. She came to know Christ as a young child and desires to follow Him all her days. She enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors, life-long learning, and going on adventures.
Stacia Swanson, M.A. PPC
Stacia grew up in the Scottsbluff/Gering, NE area, where she still resides. She has had several different career paths in the past, including project management, music instruction, and restaurant general management before choosing her counseling career. Counseling became a passion to her as she began to understand the great need to help others through her own experience, as well as her interactions with others. She desires to serve God in the opportunities given to her and wants to continue growth in her relationship with Him. Stacia enjoys time with family, camping, kayaking, and her music.
Jessica Jones, M.A. PPC
Jessica Jones is a Provisional Professional Counselor in the State of Wyoming. Jessica is from Denver, Colorado, but has lived in Cheyenne for over a decade and is proud to call Wyoming home. Jessica has extensive experience in grief, working as a funeral director and deputy coroner in Colorado and Wyoming for several years. Through this work, and while seeking her own counseling and spiritual guidance for trauma, she felt called by God to make an impact for individuals and families in a deeper, meaningful way through counseling. While pursuing her education, Jessica worked in a variety of capacities, including government policy and federal project management. Jessica holds an associate degree in mortuary science from Arapahoe Community College, a bachelor of science in human services from Colorado State University, and a master's degree in clinical mental health counseling from Chadron State College. Jessica finds great joy in this purposeful work, serving adults, adolescents, couples, and families. She works from the cognitive behavioral and person-centered approaches, and is trained in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing.
Melody Norris , M.A. PPC
Melody Norris is a Provisional Professional Counselor in the State of Wyoming. She holds her master's degree in clinical mental health counseling, as well as a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies, through Chadron State College. Originally from Michigan, she and her husband made the decision to move to Wyoming in 2006. Wyoming has been a great place for her to live and learn from so many people. Melody has been married since 2004 and she cherishes traveling with her husband and exploring new places. When she is not working, you'll find her immersed in traveling, photography, enjoying family time, or planning the next adventure. Her relationship with the Lord is the cornerstone of her life. This has guided her choices and led her to change career paths to become a therapist. Her goal is to create a warm, supportive space where everyone feels valued on their path to growth. Melody has navigated her own therapeutic journey and is passionate about guiding others through theirs. With a background in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), she integrates this approach to support her clients effectively. She enjoys working with diverse clientele, including adults, couples, groups, individuals, children, and adolescents.
